Kate peered up, bleary-eyed at the Glass Walker. "Morning." she replied and then shrugged. "Fairly, I suppose. Could do with a meal though.. and a bath.." she answered, trying to pull a bit of dried mud out of her hair with a wince. Her stomach was indeed growling now, not as it had last night but out of hunger. What she had ingested the night before hadn't stayed inside her and now her body was crying for food. Probably the reason she felt groggy as well, she reasoned.. probably partly dehydrated too. She started to get up, gesturing at Akane with her chin as she did so. "Can see you've already had a stop by the river. Think I'll go take my turn there before the others get up." she said, stretching sore and cramped muscles. She definitely bruised herself up a bit in that fall, she noted. A quick swim would do her good to loosen up a bit. "I'll be back in a tad..." she said and then heading out of the cave into the early morning sun.

She took her time, strolling out to the river. It was a descent sized river, not huge but big enough. She kicked off her shoes when she reached the bank, dipping her foot in and wincing a bit at the cold. Well, she needed to wash this mud off so there wasn't much other choice, she thought. She glanced around, making sure there wasn't anyone else around before stripping, leaving her clothes beside her shoes. She looked straight at the cold water. "To hell with it!" she said out loud and jumped in. The icy waters hit her with a shock, enveloping her as she submerged. She came up a moment later with a gasp at the chill. She dove back under, finally able to work the mud out of her hair and off her skin. Before she could do anything else, something huge went flying past her and landed in the water behind her with a splash, followed soon after by a couple more. Kate turned to see some of her Sept mates in the water, now beginning to splash and play around. Well, there went her quiet, private swim, she thought. She wasn't prepared to join in, not completely in the buff. They didn't seem to hold as much taboos about nudity but she was too self-conscious about it. With a slightly annoyed sound to herself, she decided on the only way out of this.
Shape-shift to Lupus
Difficulty : 6
Roll :7,2,3,6,10,6,3, (3)
Successes : 4
In short order, Kate's human form condensed and grew darker as deep reddish-black fur covered her. In full wolf form, she struggled a bit more in the water but managed to jump out back onto the bank of the river. She could hear the others behind her, urging her to come back but she ignored their playful laughter. She stopped to shake the excess water from her fur before she stalked to where she'd left her clothes, picking them up in her wolf jaws and heading back to the cave. She passed by Akane, still in lupus form, casting a look at the Glass Walker that was the wolf equivalent of a shrug and headed to her own niche where she changed back to her human form and got dressed once again. That done, she headed first to where some dried meat was stored, grabbing herself some as well as a water skin and heading back to the fire pit where her packmate was. She'd taken more meat than she had meant to, she realized as she walked, but she was hungry enough to eat it all. She sat down as she began to munch on it, taking a swig of water to help wash it down.

“Don’t eat too fast…” Akane said, as she watched Kate stuffing herself. The albino herself wasn’t hungry so early in the morning. She rarely ate breakfast anyways. She quickly changed into the clothes she brought for sparring. For her big surprise they fit her quite well actually.
“Those used to be my mother’s.” She said as she finished changing and stretched her body in few poses to see how it is.” Seems like they fit well enough though…”

Kate frowned as she chewed, looking at Akane's new outfit. She swallowed. "Why have fancy clothes for training in? You're not going to be out there fighting wearing training clothes.." she said. "Isn't the whole point of training and sparring to get used to what a fight will actually be like? Learn what you need to using what you will have out there." she added, shrugging. "Just makes a tad more sense to me, at least." That was what she had learned in her time with her own tribe as well; play as you would fight, bring the training as close to the real experience as possible and it made for less need for adapting on the fly. "To each their own I guess.." she concluded, finishing her meal. She got up slowly, feeling better than she had. Just another thing she didn't get about that Glass Walker; Akane was too damned sentimental over the oddest things. A fine weapon, a fetish or talen, a story or some craft she could understand. Clothing though? Maybe it was because Akane was a Glass Walker in the end but Kate just couldn't fathom what went on in her head sometimes.

Taking cue at the warm-up session, she began to stretch, not as Akane did with poses and whatnot but just in an old fashioned, stretch every muscle group way as she had always done. At least she knew the muscle groups and how to do that more properly than the average person did, all the years of her gymnastics having benefited her. When she was done, she moved to a slightly more open area, glancing above to be sure the cave ceiling was high enough for what she was about to do. Best to keep in practice, she thought. She took a deep, slow breath as she planned the manoeuvre in her head and what every muscle and limb would have to do. She tensed, crouching slightly and then leapt, pulling her head back which in turn pulled the rest of her to follow.
Back Flip
Difficulty : 8 (-2 for perfect balance merit)
Roll : 5,10,4,9,7,1,6,3,3,(4)
Successes : 3
She landed back on her feet on the cave floor after executing a fair back-flip. Truth be told it was better than just fair but she scolded herself for not practising enough. It could have been better on the landing; but she was holding herself to her old gymnastic competition standards. She looked over at Akane. "So when do you want to do this?" she asked.

Kate was pretty good… Akane realized that she was most likely training something before. This was going to be a good fight indeed.
“What do you say about this: I will toss this coin and when it falls, we will begin?” With the agreement on Kate’s part. Akane herself nodded.” Okey, let’s get outside first.”
Once outside the cave, on a good for a duel clearing, Akane quickly stood into the initial position she was taught. She was a defensive fighter to begin with, so she had to keep every last bit of her attention on Kate’s movement. She took out the coin and tossed it into the air.

Kate followed the Glass Walker outside, breathing deep of the clean air and feeling the warm sunshine on her skin. Now this was what being Garou was all about, she thought. A beautiful day and a good scuff-up about to happen! What more could one ask for? Her stomach was feeling just a hint queasy, reminded her again of the night before and her good mood disappeared though she kept that to herself. She needed to do this for her packmate and she would not fail by backing out. She took a deep breath, hiding her true thoughts behind her Fianna bravado. "A good place as any." she commented when they stopped. Akane pulled out a coin and Kate shot a look with raised eyebrow at it. Would just as well do to have someone yell 'start', she thought. Didn't really need a chunk of metal to start it off, but it was Akane's challenge; her choice.

She stretched again quickly, making sure that everything that had been stiff from the short night was good and flexible now. She began to hype herself up, getting adrenaline into her system in preparation for the fight. It would work to take away any of the aches and pains she might still have felt and sharpen her senses and reflexes. There was a reason Garou didn't fight dispassionately and often used a Galliard to work a pack or sept into a frenzy before an attack. Simple fact was: it worked. She thought of all the times Akane had brought the Weaver-taint into their home, their caern and of how much she disliked the technology that the Glass Walker was so fond of. She tempered the annoyance she felt at the other Garou but used the heat it generated within her, energy to be used. "Good luck to you." she said.

She saw Akane begin to flip the coin off but let her attention concentrate on her opponent. She would use her ears to hear when the coin hit, she needed to watch and see what Akane might do. Ragabash were sneaky little buggers and she wouldn't let the coin be a distraction. When she heard the light ting of the coin hit the ground, she made her move, a preemptive strike to anything the Glass Walker might have been planning. She carried herself forward with a fist, going for a good first brawling punch, the good old Fianna way though that usually involved a lot of drinking first....
Punch
Difficulty: 6
Roll to hit : 5,10,1,1,2,6,7,9
Successes : 2

(Akane will have to decide whether to take the hit and strike back or abort an attack and use an defensive action instead here)

Kate's fist flew towards Akane, nearly hitting the Glass Walker but the other woman was fast too and managed to duck back away from the blow. Kate's concentration was completely on Akane, focused in the way a hunter focuses in on its prey. She had to fight to keep from thinking of the Glass Walker as a real enemy and letting her rage become out of control but she did, holding on to it and keeping herself back. She growled slightly though at the miss but saw an opportunity. Akane was closer to her now. Kate spun around, elbow out, trying to use her speed and momentum to land a telling blow. Unfortunately, Akane had the same idea and was in just a bit better position to do so. The Fianna's arm deflected off the Glass Walker's. Luckily for Kate, the manoeuvre had turned her around and Akane's blow struck her on the shoulder blade, a well-protected area.

Being under Akane's defences, Kate launched another elbow at her target but the blow she'd taken had slowed her down slightly. The Glass Walker managed to evade the ineffectual attack easily. Kate spun again, elbow out and this time managed to hit Akane. The other woman though was already starting an attack of her own and Kate struck down onto Akane's shoulder; a blow that Akane was able to absorb in stride. The Glass Walker responded with a sharp kick, trying to take Kate down but the Fianna woman had tensed, preparing for a rebuttal and taking the strike with no damage. Kate struck out again, missing yet again as Akane jumped back. Suddenly, Kate swung around, lashing out with a leg in a brutal kick. It was likely what Akane also had in mind but the slightly slower Glass Walker had to change tactics at the last minute and instead use her own leg to block the swift attack.

Kate was beginning to have enough of this neutered back and forth. So far, it seemed, what one could deal out, the other could take or avoid easily. They were an even match and something needed to change. Kate threw herself at Akane, wrapping her arms around the smaller woman in a bear hold, squeezing tightly in an effort to not only immobilize Akane but to attempt to hurt her enough to win as well. She could feel the Glass Walker squirming against her, trying to break free but not succeeding. The little Glass Walker was more resilient than Kate had thought previously; maybe Akane was something of an asset to the pack after all, despite her Weaver-leanings. She squeezed harder and heard something pop lightly in the Glass Walker but by Akane's struggles, it was nothing serious but both women were tiring, panting hard at the exertion of the battle. Though neither had made any serious headway, it had taken a lot of energy just to keep at the other's level. The pain of whatever had occurred during Kate's clinch attack apparently was enough to propel Akane's fight as she managed to raise her arms and break Kate's hold on her. As Akane stumbled slightly at the sudden release Kate threw one last punch but the exhaustion was showing and her aim was off, glancing off of Akane.

The blow though was the last she could manage and it spun her around, landing her on the ground on her back, gasping for breath. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Akane was no better off, unable to continue the fight. It seemed they were a pretty good match, neither one having been able to take advantage of the other long enough to do any real, lasting damage. Kate had really hoped to have pounded Akane into the dust, to have knocked the other woman out at least but... it hadn't worked out like that. At least, Kate thought, she had managed to do some.. slight damage to Akane while the Glass Walker had not been able inflict any in return. She took that to heart as a slight victory over her packmate. Perhaps her still-not-too-great stomach had contributed to the stalemate. A rematch would need to be in order one day.. but not today. And probably not anytime soon, she amended. Well, she hadn't take any blows to the stomach and for that she was actually glad. As she lay on the dry ground, she looked over at Akane again, giving a nod of approval. "Good fight..." she said between deep breaths.

Akane layed on the ground, breathing heavily. She knew they were closely matched, but this was just poking her the wrong way. That grapple in the end, she knew it was just the fact of the body difference, but still. When Kate grappled her, she felt quite small in the other's painful hold.
"Good fight..." She agreed." Still it seems I've been getting lax with my training as of late. Just this amount of fighting shouldn't have been so tiring." She said, rolling to the side a few times to get closer to the nearest tree." I'm getting hungry. Can stand now?" She asked, slowing raising up from the ground, using the tree to lean on, but she quickly realised she needed to rest a little more and quickly sat down." Breakfast will wait a little..."

Kate sat up as she eventually caught her breath but still needed a few minutes. "Not that lax, I'd wager." she replied with a chuckle. "Was quite a challenge to keep grip on you the way you wriggled like a rabbit caught in a trap." she jested. "True it wasn't long but it was hard fought. No shame in it." Truth was, she herself hadn't slept too well and.. the other thing from last night which probably had added to her own slightly lowered stamina, she reasoned. Slowly she turned an impish smile towards Akane. "I'm going to start calling you... Dodges-Like-the-Hare." she said slowly, eyes sparkling in amusement. "I think that fits you." she added, not holding back the laugh this time. "You were as fast as one in evading me half the time." she added.

She ran a hand over her face and then back through her hair. Despite her short bath in the river earlier, she felt almost like she needed another cold dip... but she'd leave that till later. Everyone was probably still down there right now. She would have agreed to more food when the Glass Walker decided that a few more minutes of rest would do them well. It was odd though, even though Kate had eaten before this, she was still hungry. A result of the previous night, she told herself after a moment's thought. "Give yourself a few minutes." Kate told Akane. "How's the shoulder?" she asked. That's what she had heard make a popping sound during the conflict; she figured it was probably all well by now but she thought she'd ask. After a minute, she was starting to feel more herself. She got up slowly, standing and then raising herself tall.

She gave Akane a deep stare. Before this, right back to the start, she had had the impression that the Glass-Walker had respected Kate's position within the pack while not necessarily respecting Kate. She hoped all of this would change the other's mind but only time would tell. In the meantime, there had been a reason they had fought, an ultimate goal. She raised her head, her body language subconsciously declaring her superiority in the pack's order before she spoke. "We held a fair and true test of strength, agility and skill in deference to the Great Wolf, Fenris." she spoke in loud, striking words. "We fought until we could fight no more, neither falling, neither failing but showing the skill we Garou, especially those sworn to the Great Wolf, need to survive the onslaught upon Gaia. Hear us, Fenris!" she called. "This one before me seeks you!" With that, she let forth a howl; as a Galliard, she was trained in such things more than the average Garou. She called to Fenris with it, layering it with an introduction for Akane with a vein of challenge and glory to the sound of it. It also carried the particularly ephemeral sound to it that only a pure-bred Fianna possessed. As the sound trailed out through the forest around them, she paused to listen and look around. If that didn't get the Fenris' attention, she thought, nothing would.

After a long minute with nothing around, she looked at Akane with a shrug. "I guess.." she began but noticed the Glass Walker looking behind her suddenly. She turned to see a wolf standing behind her. Her jaw dropped. Oh, she knew that wolf... She cast a quick glance at Akane before looking back at the wolf. It was bigger than an average wolf yet it wasn't a Garou in Hispo form. No, she knew this wolf; she'd seen it last night. A smile formed on her lips as she caught Akane's eye again, giving a nod towards the wolf. She didn't want to speak now as it was Akane's matter.

"I see nothing bad with that. Hares are nible and fast. Even if they are pray, we should respect them for their own strengths. Coincedently my fetish mask my trails as a one of a hare." She said with a smile.
"It's fine already." Akane replied and moved it around a little." Good thing we are garou, otherwise half of those strikes would have left some damage. Especially that kick of yours. Had I tried to block with my hand, it most likely would have been shattered. Heh... it's good to have someone to fight with outside of death battles."
She listened to Kate doing her thing, not sure if it will work. It was a good battle, but outside that, nothing too special. With no distinct winner. Still Akane did throw her heart and mind into it. She hope that it was enough. Eventually when she finally noticed the wolf behind Kate, the albino's jaw amost dropped. The great wolf spirit appeared! Kate not saying anything met Akane was the one to talk here...
"Ohhh great wolf spirit, please hear my pleas. Memories from my past a hounting me, making me want to find a place I've visited a long ago! It's location is not among my memories however, so I beg for your assistance in finding that place. I don't know if the fight was satisfactory for you, so I can only hope." She said with earnest voice.

Kate laughed. "Well, glad you like it, Hare." she said, making a short form for the nickname she'd just come up with. "It was a fair fight... Rematch sometime, yeah?" she asked. "Can spar together too if you'd like..." she offered. It would be good to have a sparring partner on par skill-wise. And maybe she could learn some of Akane's moves to try to get the better of her next time as well.

After her speech, when the spirit arrived, Kate could only stare at it. She knew it wasn't Fenris himself; it was one of his representatives, one of the many servants of Fenris.. at least she was pretty sure. Even so, she stared at it tensely. It was an honour to be visited by a spirit of your totem of course... but she didn't really want a repeat of the previous night. She could only hope that it wouldn't 'say' anything about her in front of Akane. She was glad when the wolf turned its full attention on the Glass Walker. It tilted its head to the side as it regarded Akane, coming close and sniffing at her as it circled her, judging.

It was only then that Kate noticed an odd.. sound? It wasn't coming to her ears though but she could hear it in her head. It sounded like whispers, so many that they echoed slightly, causing a phased effect to the sound. Then the voice started; the wolf did not move, the sound did not come from the physical wolf but yet there was no doubt it was the wolf spirit's voice echoing in their heads. "Fought well. Respect packmate. Good." it said, sounding like a hundred voices speaking the words at once, then its nose crinkled as its lips pulled back from its teeth and fur rose on its back. "Weaver-taint." The wolf, the actual wolf, growled making Kate tense up. She knew if it chose to attack them, they likely didn't have much of a chance but finally the lips and fur dropped back into place on the spirit's body. "Glass Walker.." it said finally, as if reluctantly accepting the fact but not exactly liking it. "Many trails. Many places. Speak of place." it instructed.
