When they arrived at the clothing store, Marni's first impression was that it was closed. No big surprise since was night time. Not that late but still.. probably an hour after the store's usual closing time. She frowned at that, noting that that would be a big issue now in her life. People slept at night, for the most part... and meanwhile, she herself couldn't really force her own sleep schedule differently now, not to mention the idea of going out into the sunlight terrified her to her core on some animal, instinctual level. Yeah, being purely nocturnal now would definitely make for some issues.

She was surprised though when Vanessa's knock on the door brought an almost immediate response and the door opened with a person, human-looking based on the healthy glow of the skin, gesturing them in enthusiastically. Marni frowned slightly, wondering at how her mentor had pulled this off. Bribes? Business favours? Doing the same to this person as had been done to Veta and Gim or somehow binding them to her own will, all Dracula-thrall style? Well, it didn't matter for now, did it. She had free rein, one way or another.. and apparently a blank cheque, so to speak, which to spend on clothing. Marni wasn't one to push that sort of generosity but.. she was still going to make use of it as well as she could.

Marni peeled off from the Brujah, making her own way through the aisles and past stands of clothing, searching the styles. A handful of new shirts, mostly t-shirts in a variety of darker, cool colours to begin with. A few pairs of some hardy denim jeans, mostly in black. She even found a nice pair of tough, yet stylish leather boots to go along with it. And a new, black denim vest... Couldn't forget that. Much more stylish and pristine than her current one. She was about to head back when she remembered Vanessa's other suggestion. A coat of some sort.. to hide weapons. She smiled at that and began to head over to the outdoors section.

Coats.. coats... She moved past racks of winter coats, rain jackets, wind breakers.... None of that was her style. She moved into the next section and took a deep breath. Leather coats. Could smell them from a mile away. Leather.. definitely would be a good choice. Heavy enough that it could hide bulky armaments beneath. There... Her eyes fixed on one. Beautiful. Black leather.. of course. What else would suit a vampire? Three-quarters length, long enough to reach mid-thigh or so.. and beautiful lines. Putting down all her other clothes for a moment, she took the coat off its hanger and tried it on, turning this way and that to test the flow of it, then closing it up at the front to check not only the shape but how much space was beneath it. It would do perfectly, she thought to herself.

Grabbing her chosen clothes and still wearing the coat, she heading out, looking for Vanessa. Finally finding the Brujah, she showed her what she had picked out. "Think this should be enough for now. Vanessa, still can't tell you how much I appreciate this. You didn't have to take me in... I know you did it to protect..." she trailed off, knowing the store person was nearby still, "well I know why you did it but.. even still, you didn't have to buy me stuff but you are so.. thanks." she blurted out. She raised a curious eyebrow though, wondering HOW Vanessa would pay. Credit card? Wads of cash? Ancient gems? Or just walk out of the store without paying, having some sort of deal with the store person?

While the youngling was busy selecting her new garments, Vanessa herself was doing pretty much the same though in her case she wasn't picking a variety wardrobe, because she already had a wide selection to choose from at her home. For her this was shopping for shopping's sake and to kill time while Marni was busy selecting her new clothes.

By the time the neonate returned, Vanessa had already selected her purchase for the night which turned out to be a brand new jet black leather jacket that seemed quite fancy in a near futuristic kind of way with the way it was designed and crafted. The other purchase was a rather elegant looking dress, which she was currently trying in front of a mirror. It was completely open back all the way from the neck to the waist and had only one sleeve on the left hand. Ot also had a cut running from the upper tight all the way down, exposing a pale leg underneath it. This was not a bar type clothing at all, it was a evening gown tailored for official events of magnitude and the bill on that single dress was enough to showcase that fact.

When she saw Marni return, the brujah nodded, before hopping back into the dressing room and quickly changing back into her usual attire." Good. As expected, your have good choice in fashion." Vanessa smiled as she checked everything Marni had selected. When she was satisfied with everything and that there were no issues with the clothes aka quality was right, she gestured for the store person to begin processing them as she pulled a card. It was not a credit card, it was a card directly linked to a massive deposit. This was a pretty high end fashion store, so the bill was pretty substantial right now. As the purchase was processed and the clothing was arranged in bags, she threw a look at Marni." An expense account." She shrugged and focused on Marni's eyes." Eventually I will give you one to serve you for a little while. Think of it as allowance, at least until you get an income of your own." The older vampire stated, wondering if she could ask Hans to pull some strings and get some of Tobias's resourses transferred over to Marni. Poor girl was technically an orphan at this point. She suspected others will be against this, cause they will want Tobias's properties, resources and benefits all for themselves. Still, getting Marni some of the cash that Tobias owned would be good for his childe... with some spending limitations until she learns her way around their world that was.

"Anyways, time for us to go." She stated, grabbing the majority of the bags, letting Marni grab the rest herself as they head back to the car." Since this is done, no point in wasting time here anymore. We have other places to be..."

"Marni...." She stated once they were in the car and the doors were closed, leaving them able to talk freely." Where we are heading... is not quite save." Vanessa started to explain." Arms dealers are dangerous bunch by nature, but the one we are visiting is even more so. The one we are meeting is one like us, they deal with everything and I mean everything from weapons to innocent historical trinkets and also people if the rumors are to be believed. Do not trust him no matter what, this is a business deal. Do not promise or accept promises." She added.

Marni wasn't sure how to feel about the comment about having a taste in fashion. And it was expected? While she had always had style that wasn't bad, she was an artist and that had been where her focus had always been. Not on fashion. She supposed her own artistic talents may have carried over in her clothing choices but... at the same time, she was near loath to be grouped in with fashionistas. So she merely shrugged at the statement, dismissing the compliment. "I think they suit me. That's all that matters, right?" she answered rhetorically. Still, she felt weird that Vanessa checked over everything Marni had picked out, as if she was a child who couldn't make her own decisions. No, not weird... insulted.

Dammit. She was an adult. She had been living on her own for a number of years now. With a boyfriend, more or less. And she had spent the past half a year locked in the basement of a crazy, demented cult! She did not deserve to be treated as a child on top of all that, she thought with a light scowl. Unfortunately, Vanessa had already turned away to pay for all the clothing. Marni forced the angry scowl away but she couldn't help the sharp look that remained in her eyes when the Brujah turned back. Despite the look, Vanessa focused on the Toreador's eyes anyways, explaining about giving her a card eventually, it being an allowance. That didn't really help with Marni's annoyance though. She forced herself to nod a gesture of thanks anyways though. She realized that even so, she'd have nothing right now without Vanessa's help. Maybe that, more than anything, was what was annoying her. That she knew she needed so much help.

Vanessa didn't get Marni anymore time to dwell though, as the more experienced Kindred grabbed up most of the bags. Marni scrambled to catch the rest and trail after the Brujah, throwing a glance back at the store clerk along with a quick thanks as they passed by. Soon enough, they were back at the car, all their acquisitions safely stowed inside. Marni got in the passenger's side as Vanessa took the driver's seat. Once inside, Vanessa paused to address the Toreador. She was about to retort about being okay with somewhere not so safe, that she could take care of herself but she stopped herself, letting Vanessa continue.

So this arms dealer was like them, a vampire. Her brow rose in surprise hearing that they dealt in maybe buying and selling people. Okay, maybe people like that then were a little beyond her experience. She nodded once, her whole demeanour now being one of caution and just a little shock. "So... we are trusting this person enough to buy guns.. but don't trust them.." she repeated. Well, she would take her lead from Vanessa in this. Just like everything else in this new world that was opening up before her. "Okay, we watch our backs. And fronts.. and sides, around this guy." She frowned slightly, curiously at the last admonition. "Promises? Well, I can't see what I would promise or be promised by a damn arms dealer but okay, no promises..."

She frowned, still thinking about it as Vanessa started up the car. "Does that have to do with a vampire power or something?" she asked. She had no clue what one of these clans, that Vanessa had mentioned, that this arms dealer would be hailing from. That being said, with the ones she had mentioned, Marni was still clueless too about the powers of most of them. Hell, it seemed there were even different philosophies in each one, from the little the Brujah had described. Promises could be something to do with powers, or something completely else entirely. "It might help for me to know something about what we are walking into, Vanessa... more than just, dont make or accept any promises..." she entreated, giving a wide-eyed look at her mentor. "Some more knowledge here might help keep me safe."

"We aren't really trusting him, buying from his is business nothing more nothing less. Trust is irrelevant as long it's about the business and if it wasn't for the business transaction, I wouldn't even interract with him." Vanessa replied with a really deep frown.

"Hmmm... this is a hard thing to speak about... it's not about so much a 'power' per say. Remember how I was telling you about the different clans of the camarilla? Well there are clans outside of teh camarilla and anarchs. Some clans declare themselves independant. This is one of those cases. They are called a number of things, but the usual are setites or 'The Followers Of Set'. Without getting too indept into their history, let's just say they have this fanatical idea that their progenitor 'Set' will eventually return to either destroy the world of rule it. It varies, but to that end to help him when time comes, they are amassing power... of ANY kind. Weapons, money, favors are just a few of their tools. Whenever there's power to be gained there will probably be a Setite trying to weave their way in."

"They are master manipulators. Their very way of speaking and acting is what makes them incredibly dangerous. They are the Experts in Corruption... and htey love playing with people to corrupt them via various means and among them favors and then collecting favors. They will worm their way into your life, slowly affecting it, figuring out ways to make you do increasingly more unusual for you acts until eventually you just are no longer the same person. Just a simple example, they might offer you a deal, it will seem easy, good rewards. Later they come with similar deal, but slightly bolder. Slowly bit by bit pushing at your morals until one day you may be kidnaping someone for them or worse." Vanessa growled, making it obvious she wasn't a fan of the followers of Set." So yeah, this is what I mean by making sure you do not accept any promises or make any of your own. Now in the world we live, your reputation is a priceless thing. If you get a reputation of someone who doesn't fulfill promises, well your words will hold no value and reputation is really hard to build up, especially if it's been wrecked once. They can use that against you too." She warned as she was finally driving up against a big warehouse. There were arranged guards, but once they saw her, they let her pass. It wasn't the first time they were doing business here.

She drove deeper into the vicinty and parked, getting out of the car. She was armed with her trusty gun on the back of her jeans. She also pulled a briefcase from the trunk of the car, as she nodded for Marni to follow her. This transaction was going to be a little bit special here. The piece of art she was wanting to buy was an ancient tapestry, one that she had no idea how it came into the posession of the Setites, but there it was. The tapestry dated back to the early medieval ages, but it actually depicted an even more ancient conflict. It was the the razing of Carthage. This specific tapestry was made by a brujah knight order back in the medieval times. Got lost in the following centuries as teh true dark ages began. She didn't have anything worth the value of the tapestry, so this time around she was acting as representative of her own sire, using something he found to trade for the tapestry. Inside the briefcase was a nearly priceless piece of jewelry. It was a magical artifact, a fetish that her sire had found from god know where. It was a necklace that had a huge blood red gem at the center and a number of smaller rubies along hte chains, making it appear really flash. She was just a tad aware of it's history, story went that the main gem was supposedly bathed in the vitae of a kindred who had managed to stand on the sun, without dying for a long while. If it was true no one could say anymore, but the fact remained the fetish did lessen the effect of the sunlight upon the wearer. It was still quite easily deadly, but not as fast. These were basically priceless especially for Setites.

She walked into the warehouse making sure Marni was just a few steps behind. The setites awaited them.

The more Marni was learning about this vampire.. society, the more she wondered how it functioned at all. Nobody trusted each other, sometimes even barely working with each other it seemed.. not to mention the factions making war on each other. It was a wonder they hadn't wiped themselves out decades... hmm, centuries, or even millenia ago! And now there was a clan that they trusted even less than the rest... She frowned at the name though. Setites or Followers of Set? Like the Egyptian god, she wondered? She kept silent though, listening to Vanessa's explaining, trying to gain as much information as she could. She was really beginning to realize the information was the best way to stay alive now. At least until she could learn more about using her own powers, and maybe even still after.

By the time the Brujah was done, Marni merely shook her head slowly, wide-eyed. "Okay.. so no promises then, Got it!" she confirmed, now understanding the reasoning. It did help to know, to let her know what boundaries NOT to push. This certainly sounded like one of them. Manipulation was... one thing, for humans. Knowing that someone would try to manipulate you limited its effectiveness. When there were vampire powers in play, or being with god knew how many years experience at it.... that was a different story. Though she had no experience with these Setites or their powers, Marni did remember how her own.. Sire had lured her in. She remembered how he had manipulated her, forcing her to go with him under her own compulsion, or so she had thought at the time. These Setites sounded way worse.

And then they arrived at a warehouse. The guards standing around gave Marni pause. Did she really want a weapon this much that she would walk into the lion's den? Well, she needed some means of defence and... well, she was going to have to rely on Vanessa here. Her new mentor was confident that they could get what they came for and get out unscathed. She'd have to accept that. As the vehicle was turned off, Marni followed Vanessa out of the car and began to follow her into the warehouse, trying to keep watch all around them at once, wary of the whole situation.

Past rows of stacked shelves, full of items and boxes and all sorts of odds and ends, coming to the middle of the warehouse there was an open area with a large desk, too ornate for such a location parked there. The lighting here was subdued, each bulb being an old-style bulb light above with no UV lights to be seen anywhere as one might expect in an industrial scenario. Sitting behind the desk in an opulent leather chair with his feet up on the desk was a man, perhaps in his thirties with long, dark, curly hair and a sharp face, wearing a long black leather trench coat with a red and black stylishly torn shirt beneath. At his neck hung a necklace that looked like two oversized vampire fangs.. or perhaps snake fangs. Seated completely up on one side of the desk, curled up in a coy pose, was a young woman with red hair wearing a shorter, feminine black leather jacket.

As they approached, both the man and the woman rose slightly, watching the two guests intently, the way a predator watches prey coming closer, almost within range but being careful not to scare it off with any sudden movements. In fact, Marni thought, those two moved like snakes or something. She made sure to keep a few steps behind Vanessa. It would be up to her new Mentor to do the talking here.

The man took his feet of the desk, sitting up straight in his chair. He eyes the case that Vanessa had brought in quickly before looking back straight into her eyes. Then momentarily flicked over to Marni, the predatory smile never leaving his face. "You've come for business, I take it?" he asked in a silken voice with an attractive deep tone as he now stood. He made a grandiose bow before standing up straight again, his gestures languidly too graceful, like a snake's. "We are always open for business... I am Dimitri, at your service... in ANYWAY way you lovely women need...." he said almost suggestively. His hand rose up, running his fingers through the woman on the desk's red hair sensually before the hand settled on her shoulder. "My childe, Zoey. We are both here to serve you however we can. Now, what is it that you seek? What would bring you pleasure tonight?"

Vanessa led Marni through the warehouse until they reached their destination which was what she considered hte isual Setite set up. The man himself looked the part and to her not too pleasant surprise, there were two of them. She didn't like dealing with them to begin with, now the man apparently had a childe of his own. Great, there went the future corruptor of kine and kindred alike. If it was up to this Dimitri and Zoey, the whole world would burn and turn at their beck and call for their god and Vanesa didn't like that, not one bit.

"Vanessa Ann Helgate. I'm here on business." She introduced herself in not really happy voice. Her face carried her clear non nonsense attidue right now and that she wasn't here to play games or empty polite one lines with these setites. She let Marni introduce herself, before continuing with the reason why they are here.

"Alright, cut the act." The brujah stated with flat voice and placed the briefcase she was carrying on the desk, proceeding to slowly open it. It wasn't that she was slow on a reason, no it was because the briefcase was locked with at least 5 different locks and once it was open on the inside was a transparent case nestled in soft material to stop vibrations. Inside the transparent case which was also bulletproof, was an jewelry piece. It was an impressive polished brass chain that carried a frankly massive scarlet ruby with some smaller rubies surrounding it. The gem itself was giving of eerie presence and anyone with auspex aura reading would see it was clearly something supernatural in nature. She turned the briefcase around to show it to the Dimitri fellow." I know you have the Tapestri 'Fall of Carthage', by Lilianne of Constantinople." She flatly voiced, her eyes dead serious here." This is the Nightingale Heart, This should be enough to trade for the tapestri, no?" The effect of it was to help soak up sun damage it was especially good for Setites who could even burn under aritifical lgiht, this thing would make it so they didn't. This is also why the briefcase was under such security. As soon as she showed it, she closed the briefcase, making sure it's secure until she sees the tapestri here. The breifcase also was locked to her wrist with a handcuffs.

"Also while I'm here, I'm thinking of getting a weapon, for my charge here." She added with still flat voice. This fetish alone should be more than enough for the tapestri and the gun. The tapestri was precious yes, it was ancient yes, but it wasn't a fetish. It had no other purpose aside sitting pretty in their storerooms. For brujah it would be a point to gather up and boost morale and promote for the old ideals. Still she was more than ready to pay for a gun separately.

Dimitri chuckled softly when Vanessa told him to 'cut the act'. He slowly raised his hands to shoulder level, palms up. "What act." he responded, the response not really a question. His smug smile was greatly amused though, as if his prey thought it knew how to evade capture but he knew better. A confident predator. As Vanessa began to slowly open the case she had brought with her, Dimitri leaned in close to his childe's ear, pulling the hair away and whispering something, all the while still keeping an eye on their guests. The childe's gaze turned to Marni with a long appraising look.

Finally the case was opened, displaying an intricate piece of jewellery inside, well protected. More so than just a simple jewellery item, however expensive, should need. Dimitri moved closer to the case, stopping to asking in a gesture if he could reach in. The item was still protected by a clear case inside so it wasn't as if he would grab the piece and run. When Vanessa nodded slowly, Dimitri reached in, putting his hand lightly atop the clear case over the jewelled piece. His smug smile was changing, however slightly to one of interest. After a moment, he took his hand away, giving a single nod to Vanessa and a gesture to continue. He nodded. "The Fall of Carthage, yes. It may be a simple piece but it is rare, expensive, irreplaceable." he confirmed.

His own eyes narrowed at hearing what the jewellery piece was. "The Nightingale Heart..." he repeated flatly, any hint of amusement gone. He tapped pointed nails on the desk. "You would trade such a rare and powerful fetish for a mere bauble of human art... With no attempts to negotiate to your advantage?" he questioned, suspicious now. His lips opened just enough to see the hint of fangs beyond as he paused, thinking, studying the two female Kindred who had come to him. "You'll forgive me if I need to authenticate such a fetish..." he said finally. He pulled out a phone from a back pocket in his pants, pressed some buttons on it and then spoke into it briefly before putting it away again.

Thirty seconds later, came the sounds of running footsteps from the back of the warehouse and from around a collection of large, full shelves, came a single figure. He pulled to a stop beside Dimitri. Dimitri put a hand on the shoulder of the new, young male while speaking to Vanessa. "Vanessa, this is my associate, Viago. I would be greatly put at ease over the authenticity of the item should you allow Viago to make use of it.. in the back office. Viago will show you the way." he said.

Viago frowned. "The back office? The one with the.... The one we don't use?" he asked.

Dimitri gave him a look. "Yes. The back office. And turn the lights on in there while holding this object." His expression turned dark as Viago started to object. "Do it, Viago. You will be well compensated.... You know my word is good in this. Do it and have what you desire, don't and... well, I can always return you to where I found you." he said harshly. He turned back to Vanessa, a smile returning. "You may go with Viago, of course, to keep an eye on the item until the deal is finalized."

He gestured to Zoey, as she slid off the desk. "My childe here will see to showing your.. charge a selection of weapons in the meantime." he said, emphasizing the word 'charge'. Vanessa had used that, and not childe, to describe her companion and that interested him. It might do to dig up some more information on these two. For now though... He made a bow of his head, noting any hesitance. "Please, I assure the safety of both you and your charge here. It would not do any good to my reputation should I become known for ambushing and stealing items instead of dealing in a fair manner." he said, smiling.. almost amicably. It was true though; Setites were already distrusted. They had to do all they could to even be able to make deals with other Kindred, even if that meant playing everything above board. "I simply wish to be efficient. If you would show Viago how the Heart works and Zoey will allow your charge her choice of weaponry. If the Heart is authentic, I am willing to barter a small supply of weapons plus the tapestry for it." he added.

"Of course. I wouldn't expect it any other way." Vanessa replied when he wanted to confirm the fetish was actually for real and authentic. She knew first hand it was, her sire knew too. She never asked where he got it out from, but he operated out of Europe. Let's just say that there were ancient treasures still hidden all across the old world for those weith the knowledge and desire to grab them. She knew for sure it wasn't in camarilla's hands, suspected it might have been grabbed from teh sabbat, but he didn't say. Though to be fair with the same success he could have taken it from old crypt somewhere. Some things were best left untold.

Vanessa nodded as the man called over a scape goat, ahm... a tester. She pulled the case, turned it over to her, entered the code into the case's lock and then opened it. After that she pulled a small key and unlocked the transparent case inside too, finally freeing the fetish from it's safe enviroment, handing it over to the scape goat. She knew it was working fetish that helped with light damage. From her understanding while it wouldn't completely block the sun, for these Setites who suffered even under artificial light, this should at least make htem not get affected from artificial light. Might be still a mildly uncomfortable, but damaging or hindering in any way. It was a powerful fetish.

She nodded." Will do, it's not rocket science though." She shrugged her shoulders and gave Marni a meaningful look as to remember who they were dealing with here. Once that was done she acompanied this Viago fellow to the room where they were supposed to test it.

"Alright, this fetish doesn't work if you simply hold it. Don't ask me why, it's how it works." She stated to him and unlocked hte buckles on the chain, gesturing him to get close so she could put it on his neck. Once that was done with she gestured for him to lead the way into enter the room. She was genuinly curious what was the lighting in the room for it to be used for this test. She as most kindred wouldn't be affected by any manner of artificial light. Curios was this weakness of hte Setites in her mind, especially since it grew larger with every passing moment as technology advanced.

Viago looked extremely concerned the whole time of escorting the woman with the object and in having her secure it around his heck but he never objected, never hesitated. He didn't like it but whatever he was getting in return was worth risking an eternity of unlife for apparently. He had to unlock the door to the back room to let them both inside. There was a window in the wall connecting this office to the rest of the warehouse but it had been firmly boarded and sealed up, almost as if this room had been the outside and those further within the warehouse had feared the sun getting in. Truth be told though, UV lights were nowhere as near damaging as the sun was but.. it was still far from pleasant for Setites. It still hurt like hell, to be fair. He closed the door once they were inside.

What Viago was worried about wasn't so much at sitting under the lights as to being suspicious of this apparent fetish and of the woman who had brought it. Logic said it would be dumb for her to only kill one of the brood here when the others would take vengeance the second they realized they were being double crossed, but... one could never trust the motives of other Kindred, especially ones who didn't understand the true nature of the worlds, now could they? Still, if he was to die tonight, he could accept that. He had done as was right, he had freed many souls from the shackles of conformity, from eternal damnation. He could die with that being his epitaph.

Viago gestured the woman to where the light switches were as he moved further into the darkness of the office, nearer the centre. As he got there, the lights turned on. The harsh purple tint of the UV lights flooded the room and he winced at the unaccustomed brightness. Under this light, his ashen skin gave no doubt as to his vampiric undead state. He paused for a moment, holding his hands out, palms facing down, before turning them to face up at the light. His face followed, eyes narrowing still at the bright but.... there was no pain. No burning of his skin. He waited another couple of minutes before finally turning to the woman. "All right. Time to go back to Dimitri." he said, gesturing her towards the office door and back out into the warehouse proper.

As they got back to Dimitri, he helped the woman take the bauble off him and gave his boss a nod. There was now another Setite with Dimitri but Viago ignored the other. He was higher up on the chain than that thug. "It works." he said. "At least when it comes to those sorts of lights, it works."

Dimitri smiled a bigger smile at Vanessa, indicating with his hands with long, sharp nails, a large leather protective tube that sat now sat on the desk. "May I present to you : The Fall of Carthage." he said with some display. "Of course, you may examine it before we finalize as well. That's only fair." he nearly cooed.

------------------------------------

As Vanessa was led off somewhere to the back, the young, red haired woman leapt off the desk and came over to Marni. She was shorter than Marni but there was something.. scary in the other woman's eyes. A look of some sort of fanaticism that would excuse anything. What Vanessa had told Marni instantly came to mind and the Toreador was on guard.

Zoey could sense the sudden hesitation. "Come on. I won't bite... Dimitri made a deal with your friend." She shrugged. "I'm fulfilling that part of the deal. You have a want, we have what you need." she held out her hand.

Marni glanced at the outstretched hand cautiously. She didn't take it but instead took a step forward. "Fine, let's go then. Show me what you are going to show me." she said, building up her resolution to go on... and her resistances for anything this snake of a woman might try.

Zoey chuckled, withdrawing the hand but beginning to lead the newcomer through the maze-like stacks of items. "You aren't like your friend, are you?" she asked as they walked. "She isn't your Sire, right?"

Marni wasn't sure if she should answer that but.. would it make a difference? "No." she replied simply.

"Mmmm... yeah, it's pretty obvious when you know what to look for." Zoey explained, still with that knowing smile. Without saying more, she gestured Marni on until they came to a far corner of the warehouse. This area was well lit, though the level of the light was still somewhat subdued. There were a number of tables here, each filled with guns and weapons of many different varieties. "Here we go. I believe the deal was a number of items from our selection.." She waved her hand towards the tables. "Take a look at them. None are loaded but you can get a feel for them.. Any questions, just ask."

Keeping the other woman in the corner of her vision, Marni began to look over all the weapons. Her knowledge of guns was limited at best but... She glanced up, arching an eyebrow. "Several weapons, right?" She received an enthusiastic nod in reply. Two or three would likely be enough. She stopped before a large spread of hands guns looking them over, trying to judge just based on the appearances. Her gaze settled on one. Not too big, squarish but it looked like it could stop something well enough. It wasn't pitiful looking like some of the others. It looked.. functional. She picked it up, turning it in her hands, feeling how it felt in her grip. It fit rather well...

"Good choice there.. Very good choice." Zoey began. "That's the Sig Sauer P226, .40 calibre, a gun used by many international law enforcement and military organizations. This can punch a good hole in a Lick. You'd be hard pressed to find a bullet that will kill one, of course, but this will hurt like a damned. More than one shot.. and well, maybe! And it carries enough shots and fires fast enough that you can do some real damage if not outright kill your quarry." she explained.

That did sound good, thought Marni. "All right, I'll take one of these to begin with then.." she said, handing it over to Zoey who proceeded to dig around under the table. She came up with a holster that clipped to the belt and strapped around a leg along with a few spare clips and boxes of .40 calibre ammunition, moving it all over to a clear area of another table. Apparently that would be the checkout aisle, she decided, turning back to look at the next table. Submachine guns. A lot of them were considerably bigger than she had imagined. But there were a number.. that were a decent size. Small enough that she could hide beneath a long coat. She stopped at another one, putting her hand on it, feeling the cool metal. "What about this one?"

Zoey chuckled. "H and K MP5K-PDW. That's 'personal defence weapon'. Circa the early '90's... used by special operations here and there, specially in areas with enclosed spaces. You can see how it has a folding stock and is shorter than many of the others. A suppressor can be attached here." she said pointing to one spot on the barrel. "It also has single shot or three round burst modes. It's .40 calibre as well." she informed Marni.

Marni nodded. "I think I like that."

As Zoey began to dig under that table, she called up. "You want a shoulder strap or thigh holster for that?"

That surprised Marni. "Uhh.. can I get both?" Who knew, right?

Zoey came up holding a bunch of objects and moved over to deposit them on the table with the chosen handgun. More ammo, more clips for this SMG, the holster and strap for it, and a suppressor. "Anything else?" she asked.

Marni frowned. The size of the weapons on the rest of the tables went up from there: assault rifles, shotguns and even heavier ordinance. Things that would be much too hard to hide. Though.. the sniper rifles looked interesting.. But then when would she ever need one of those? Hell with it. She picked out a shorter, sawed-off shotgun as well. It could be kind of hidden and from what she knew and could guess at, the damage from one of those was bound to be horrific, even to a vampire. She also picked a smaller pistol with an ankle holster as a backup weapon.

With all of that picked out, Zoey pulled out a duffle bag that looked worthy of being owned by a cop and started packing up the weapons and extras into it. As she did so, she began to talk again. "First of all, you need more ammo, more gizmos for these, more weapons, come to me. I can get you the best deals, the best gear. Just ask for Zoey and I can get you whatever you need. Secondly, your friend isn't your Sire. But you still follow her around like a fledgling. Not judging or anything, just an observation. But she isn't your Sire, in the end." Her eyes glanced up at Marni for a moment. "And yet.. she is stopping you from something, isn't she? Preventing you from learning something? No, that isn't it.. Maybe preventing you from looking up your old life?" She paused, her smile growing as she could read the slight flinch.

She paused in her work, looking up now. "Ah... that's it, isn't it. Torn out of your old life, as we all are but unable to tie off loose ends.. or comfort those loved ones we left behind." She lowered her head conspiratorially. "I can help you with that.... You want me to pass a note to something, a letter... I can do that. You want me to pass on a message so someone can stumble across you? Just tell me who, what and where..." she offered. She paused at Marni's continued hesitation. "Well, you know where to find me if you change your mind... I don't like seeing a young Kindred like you being ordered around, your naivety in what we are, what we can do, being held over you to keep you in line. That is how she is holding you, right? Offering to teach you if you stay, threatening punishment if you go back? Yeah... If you want to get out from under that collar, come and find me..." she said as she finally zipped up the bag, before shouldering it and heading back off to where the desk was in the middle of the warehouse.

As they arrived back, Zoey deposited the bag with the guns on the edge of the desk. When Dimitri asked if the weapons part of the deal was figured out, Zoey nodded, patting the bag. "All sorted out. She made some pretty nice choices too." she said, giving Marni an appreciative tip of her head.

"Good, good.." answered Dimitri. He turned back to Vanessa. "So.. the fetish works. I trust you judge the tapestry authentic, and your charge has been armed up." he said gesturing to all the objects now on the desk before holding out his hand. "This deal works for me, if it works for you..."

"Of course I will, verification is the highest form of trust." Vanessa had replied to Dimitri when they finally returned ot him after confirming that indeed the fetish was doing what it was supposed to do. These types of fetishes weren't easy to come by, so she highly doubted they could easily find another one of the same nature if they missed this opportunity, such was the fate of the setites. Though these monsters were still well off, gathering power by abusing favors and money. God only knew how many pawns he had in his pockets and not even getting into the numbers when it came to their entire clan of forked tongues. Her innate dislike for the setites was bordering on her dislike for the Ventrue, but where Ventrue it was simply historical effect from their shared history with the setites, it was more like the sheer abhorence that came with her path when it came to this manner of behavior.

She slowly pulled the tapestry from the big leather protective tube and spread it out, pulling a magnifying glass she brought just for this from her pocket. It wasn't a simple sold in office supplies one. This was a well crafted one with great magnification. Professional one, she slowly started studying the weave of the tapestry inch by inch, studying the figures on the piece of art. She studied a few figures, then some of the background, chose a few other random points to check, then finally she turned the tapestry over to study the back of it. She ran a finger across a corner and then brought the lense to the bottom left corner, seeing what would usually be the signature of an artist, but in this case it was a stamp pressed on the cloth, carrying the logo of the brujah clan of that era. After what had taken close to 10 minutes of examinations, she finally nodded and put away the magnifying lense. Her face carried a satisfied expression.

It had turned that in the meantime Marni had returned wit hthe other snake. The toreador was armed, the brujah nodded at her as she returned her attention back to Dimitri." I agree on this trade." She stated flatly as she carefully put the tapestry back into it's protective tube." I judge this tapestry to be authentic." She nodded as she carefully took the leather tube. She then nodded for Marni that they should get going, Van wasn't planning on staying longer than she had to, but she decided she might as well say it cause her sire had notified her in advance that there were other Brujah artifacts htey might need help getting. Might as well make best use of these bastards and put them to do some good in the long run. but she certainly hoped her sire would deal with this himself." We might do business again in the future. Will contact you should hte case arises." She stated.

With that she headed back to the car, she didn't say much, waited until Marni joined her and then started to drive away from the warehouse, she didn't speak again until they had returned to the roads." So, what did that woman try to tempt you with?" Vanessa suddenly said." There's no way they didn't try to tempt you with something. Might as well tell me and see if we can do something about it without you getting tangled into their net. Did she promise you power or independence? Mmm I doubt it it's JUST THAT... she sniffed out you wanted to meet your family and I said no, didn't she?" Vanessa asked without getting to surprised about anything should htat be the case. As far as she was aware that was the only thing that she was actively rejecting of Marni's desires earlier. Setites had a knack of finding such stuff out somehow.

She then proceeded to stop the car by the side of the road. There weren't anyone around on this road right now. " Marni, alright let's talk about this. You've been missing for so long from their lives. How would you explain your reappearance? Where have you been till now?" She asked.
