Marni liked what she heard about hunting; it had seemed a very personal experience.. at least the handful of times she had voluntarily fed, and to be honest, it didn't really surprise her. The idea of vampires had always seemed that they were solitary hunters, though as her knowledge had been derived from pop culture, she had wanted to confirm what she suspected. When Vanessa answered her question about what was next, Marni's face took on a slightly worried expression. She had wanted to find more like her, to explain.. about everything but... going to be put in front of the big man in charge? What if he just decided to order Marni's death? Or lock her up again? The only thing that currently convinced her that she hadn't made a massive mistake in seeking out other Kindred was the learning not to kill when feeding. All the rest of it?.... She wasn't so sure she wanted any part in a lot of it.

The fact that Vanessa labelled Marni as a wanted person only served to increase her reticence. One thing the other women said though gave Marni a thread of hope. "You can get me cleared?" she asked. "Will this Baron guy listen? Is he reasonable?" She was still worried that he might decide to do something harsh to her in response to how she had been surviving, despite the fact that she had been ignorant about everything but Vanessa seemed to be confident that they'd get Marni 'admitted into the group', so.. she had to be alive to be admitted... hopefully. When beckoned, she followed the Brujah, listening as Vanessa continued. At least she would have to be alive to report on the tidbits she knew about Tobias and that damned cult.

Anarchs? Odd name, she thought to herself. Obviously short for anarchists but.. ironically, they seemed to have a power structure. She didn't want to interrupt the other woman's explanation about the rest of it for something trivial at the moment though. Many different unseen forces in the world.. The thought left her reeling. Half a year ago, as she had gone on in her daily life, she and everyone else in the world, was totally oblivious to this... race of monster hiding in plain sight. God.... Hearing about the factions that made up the Kindred race didn't make her feel any better. Vampires of untold power and age.. and here she was, as helpless and naive about it all as an infant. She winced at the description of the Sabbat but.. there were always people.. humans who had no morals so she supposed it wasn't too far fetched that they stayed free of them after being turned. She supposed, being immortal, like attracted like over time.

Marni let out a humourless laugh, almost more out of relief, at hearing the description now of the Anarchs. "I guess I should be glad it was you, your faction that I stumbled on then.. " she answered. "God, how is any of this real.." she added, more quietly to herself as she rushed to join Vanessa under the umbrella. She was only starting to dry out from being outside earlier and she didn't really want to walk in on this Baron looking like a drowned rat. She was surprised.. no, amazed, to see cab pull up in front of them within less than two minutes, and they loaded themselves inside.

----------------------------------

The cab stopped outside of what looked to be a small newspaper office. Marni glanced out at it, noting that many of the lights were still on despite the late hour. She supposed that newspaper offices probably weren't strictly nine to five hours, as breaking news could crop up at any time and there might be a rush to print it. Following Vanessa, she got out of the cab, trying to keep under the other woman's umbrella as best she could. Someone stood just inside the front double doors, but with the light coming from behind, all she could see was a silhouette. It was a pretty beefing looking silhouette though.. She had to trust that Vanessa knew what she was doing, taking them both there. It would make sense, though, for someone like a Baron to have some security, right?

As they approached the front doors, the man inside pushed one open, admitting them into the building. He nodded to the Brujah woman. "Vanessa." he greeted in a deep but pleasant voice, thickly accented. After a brief study of Marni, he gestured deeper into the building, speaking to Vanessa. "You know the way to Hans' office. He's waiting for you." (bodyguard named Bogdan, russian accent)

That gave Marni pause for a second. She hadn't seen Vanessa call ahead.. and she had been with the Brujah woman since they had met. How did this guy know they were coming? Maybe the cab driver? Maybe someone here had some other kind of super power... She didn't even know a fraction of what Kindred seemed capable of... Still, she continued to follow Vanessa, the other woman seeming to know this place fairly well. They passed a few people, working here and there, as they made their way to whatever the destination was.

Finally they came to exactly what had been said, an office. It looked like a working office of am actual newspaper, containing a desk piled high with papers, manila folders, and a half-buried computer. Standing up from a chair that had been half hidden behind the piles was a very young looking man, attractive with sandy blond hair and striking blue eyes... blue eyes that carried a weight, that looked like they had seen too much in this world. The fleeting smile seemed perfunctory though not sarcastic. His sharp nod towards Marni's companion was.. a bit out of place with local custom. The heavy German accent when he finally spoke in a soft voice probably explained it though.

"Fräulein Vanessa, how good of you to come." he said. He sighed tiredly. "It has been a long night, despite being only hours old, so forgive the lack of formality in this meeting but.. why is it that you have come?" Though this question was directed at Vanessa, his azure blue eyes studied Marni, obviously Kindred but one he had never seen before. He was fairly sure that whatever the reason for Vanessa's visit, it had to do with the eccentric looking woman in her company. It was clear though that he expected introductions from Vanessa.

Baron : Hans Brühl
Clan : Brujah
Country of Origin : Germany
Born : 1914
Embraced : 1933 (Appears 19 years old)

Appearance : Young, clean cut, blond hair and blue eyes with a very serious, determined demeanour most of the time, though that is not saying he does not smile or laugh sincerely at other times.

Born at the start of WWI, Hans' father had been a soldier and his mother was a nurse. Even at a very young age, having been brought along to some of the hospital camps, he had seen carnage and horrific death because nobles wanted to play war with the lives of their lessers. He had been too young to understand at the time any of the politics that resulted in blood and gore but the things he saw never left him, urging him on to political activism during his teenage years, during the dark time for Germany after the war, most commonly opposing the national socialist party and their propaganda that began to take rise.

In early 1933, Brühl along with a few others, planned and executed an arson attack on the Reichstag, the home of the German parliament. During the attack, Brühl was gravely injured as he fled. The Reichstag guards lost the arsonists in the dark of the night, stumbled instead on another man near the building, Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch communist, whom they charged and convicted for the burning.

Brühl's cohorts dragged him back to their hideout but they could do nothing for his injuries, not until one secretive member of their resistance group came up, asking for a moment alone with Brühl. Hans Brühl died and was reborn that night as Brujah, fighting for the cause of freedom from oppression, which he still continues to do to this day.

Now, as well as Baron, Hans continues to run a newspaper office to support his political and social agendas.

Vanessa didn't speak much while they were heading to Hans's office. SHe walked silently, sorting things out in her head all the way to the last step until they walked into the offifce. She looked at hte man, as always he looked young. Younger than her, but she knew it was not the fact. Of course she knew, she still smiled at him though she liked him well enough to consider him friend and he was doing good job at his position. Well elected Baron indeed.

She quickly gave courtesy bow to the man too by not local customs, but who was to blame her sire was an old dog hailing from old times and he naturally drilled into her good old customs such as the knightly bow. She was smiling through the entire time." Good to see you in fine condition Baron Brühl." Having the formalities gone for the moment in her opinion she smiled and sighed.

"Going to be frank and without pointless formalities from now on, Hans." She stated, and looked at Marni, gesturing for the girl to come closer." Remember those incidents with the attacked lowlives around town? Well tonight the lucky stars were in my favor and the culprit herself walked into my bar." She explained with a clear non angry smile." Turns out she's Tobias's childe..." She added to indicate her background and also quickly added." Direclty after siring her he vanished and since he hasn't appeared we can probably assume the worst at this point.." Vanessa added one of hte bad news." Bad news continue though... apparently right after being embraced she was attacked by Church of Immaculate Immortality... Remember those reports I mentioned to you? Those guys seems they held her and used her to throw humans to her until she broke out and escaped. Which should be around hte time the thugs started getting attacked." She naturally went in with some of hte other minute details that Marni had also told her more or less the full story." I suspect Ditko's involvement in this case... we have strong case to suspect he's involved with that cult and he and Tobias has been at each others' necks for centuries. I'm pretty sure the cult arriving right after Tobias vanishes to capture his childe isn't a coincidence..."

"Anyways, I want her under my wing..." She finally stated." She can be taught, I've already shown her how not to kill people when feeding. Her sire's been my friend and I can look after her, teach her and show her the ropes. Besides what better place to a witness in this mess to be protected at than an Elysium?" Vanessa explained with a smile to him." Ohh yeah I also want premission to start investigation into Ditko... polite one... without much fuss as to not alarm him to it... You know... just enough to put a really friendly bullet between his eyes when the evidence's collected. It should be fine, right?" She asked with friendly voice, warm smile and dead serious cold eyes.

Hans nodded at Vanessa's intent to drop formalities and gestured for her to continue on. He was quite interested in whom the other woman in Vanessa's company was and why Vanessa, a quite experienced Kindred, would bring such a woman before himself. She obviously trusted this stranger enough to bring her in and vouch for her and he was not getting any sort of vibe that the new woman could be Vanessa's childe. Surely Vanessa would have told him of her intent to sire had she decided to do so. It was not a requirement among the Anarch nation but.. they were friends and he would have been quite surprised that she didn't mention it to me before.

"Ja, the messy kills that lacked..." he began to respond, about to say that lacked discreetness, when he realized where this was heading. His eyebrows rose in realization, confirmed a split second later by Vanessa as well. His gaze turned once more to study the new woman beside his fellow Brujah. "Ah... so not Sabbat as we first suspected... This is good news." he answered but then paused. "Tobias' childe?" His brow furrowed as he frowned now. He wanted to ask more but Vanessa was already there, knowing exactly what he would want to know. The answers that came didn't help to turn his frown one bit though. He and Tobias had been comrades for quite a long time. Though suspected, it was sad news to hear further confirmation that the Toreador had likely met his Final Death.

He made a frustrated sound in his throat. "The church... gott in himmel... Yes, yes, I remember the reports... We thought them an annoyance at best.." His eyes narrowed again, looking over at the new woman, whose name he still did not know. A kindred, even a newly born one, captured and held as a slave? Yes, yes there was more going on here than just a human-based organization and he did not like it. They had more than enough enemies to deal with already. Now it seems like they might just well have to worry about one they thought their ally. He sighed, shaking his head with eyes closed for a moment. "Maximilian Ditko.. Yes, just tonight I have come into some further evidence that he is connected to them.. and it is true that no love was lost between Tobias and him..." he replied.

"I was wary of Ditko when he arrived in Atlanta... but it was Tobias who urged me to allow his old rival entrance and domain.. hoping to bury their conflict..." he continued. "To think that Ditko had something to do with Tobias' disappearance.. and likely death..." He sighed again, heavily. "You know that we do not like to exert heavy hands or punishments upon our fellow Anarchs, but murder and incarceration are most definitely crossing the line and must be dealt with. That being said, there must be solid proof of the crime, not merely circumstantial evidence, Vanessa." he told her. "I know how you feel; I feel the same but.. we... I must be shown to be a fair judge in this, and not be like a Camarilla Prince. I must have proof."

He turned to Marni. "Childe, you swear to me that all Vanessa told me, all that you have told her, is the truth?" he asked.

The corner of Marni's lip turns in a hint of a snarl, not directed at the Baron though as her eyes stared off into the memories of the past months. "I wish it wasn't, sir..." she said in a pained voice. "My life stolen from me, no direction or explanation from anybody on what I had become... and then in the midst of the most physically painful experience I've ever gone through, being taken against my will and held captive for six months, forced to kill.... God, I wish it was all fiction..." she added, almost desperately wishing she could make it so.

"And you are sure it was Tobias who sired you? Tobias Stewart?" Hans asked. "And this cult? And your name, if you please, fraulein?"

Marni nodded again. "I'm Marni.... Lacroix. And, yes, Tobias Stewart. That's what he said his name was. He was English..." she said, going on to describe his appearance which was burned into her memory despite the dream-like state in which he had lured her. Her expression turned darker. "The Church of Immaculate Immortality, led by Brother Gregory.. who I killed when I escaped."

Hans nodded, hearing this. The description for Tobias was right, and he had certainly heard of Brother Gregory and the man.. the ghoul's death nearly a month ago. He turned to Vanessa. "We know that Gregory, the leader of that cult, was a ghoul.. though to whom... well we can only suspect Ditko.." he told her. "I had thralls of my own attempt to infiltrate it but.. they kept disappearing." he said, looking over at Marni now who's expression took on a guilty frown. He tilted his head, looking at her sympathetically. "Childe, if these were the ones that were given to you while you were starving, it is not your fault and they knew the dangers when they volunteered to gather information for me." he said, trying to comfort her. Taking life was never an easy thing to deal with, but he was glad that she showed remorse. She had her humanity still.

Vanessa's next request surprised Hans, just a little. Maybe, though, it wasn't so surprising in the end, as he thought about it. If she hadn't volunteered, he would have himself, not just to safeguard his territory from an ignorant Kindred, but in honour of his old friend. "Granted, mein freund. You are now the surrogate for this young Kindred." He smiled. "I know you know how to be discreet. Agreed, again. Find me the proof that Ditko breaks our laws... But try not to kill him. We must show that we are civilized and unbiased, ja?" he asked. "When the time comes, I will see to it that you can be the one to bring justice but.. only when the time comes." he cautioned. "I may be leader but I am only so long as the other Anarchs accept me as such.."

He stood finally, giving a nod of his head to both women before looking to Vanessa. "Well, mein freund, it seems like you have your work cut out for you..." he told her, pointedly glancing towards Marni in a bit of a joking manner now, trying to lighten the sombre setting just a bit. "Take good care of Tobias' childe and.. be careful in your search. If Ditko is responsible for this, then he is more dangerous than we suspected. Be well, Vanessa. If there is nothing else, I regret I must bid you adieu. I have another meeting scheduled that I must attend to. "

--------------------------------

As they left the room, a very well dressed man in a sharp, expensive-looking suit, went into the Baron's office, shutting the door quickly, sealing himself and the Baron off. Marni looked in surprise at Vanessa. "Well, that seemed important..." she said, only half jokingly. Turning more serious, she turned to Vanessa. "I just... In there, you really do want to help me. I just want to say thank you." she said sincerely. She had had doubts before, doubts that what Vanessa had said and promised were true. Doubts about her own safety in being led before the vampire leader of this whole city. That they had proved unfounded was a relief and that Vanessa did intend to teach her what she needed to know.. was more than she could have wished for. "After seven months of living in hell, and thinking that I was a monster.. I really can't tell you how grateful I am..."

She raised an eyebrow, a bit of a smile on her lips. "Now... what? Food?" she asked hopefully.

( The man who went in was a Ventrue Elder, Hugh Ramsay. His domain in the city is the one the most threatened at the moment by the Sabbat encroachment. )

"Much thanks Hans." Vanessa replied with a smile as the baron gave his permission to launch an investigation into Ditko's connections with that cult and Tobias's disappearance. She smiled nodded and looked at Marni." Ohh don't worry, even Ditko has to pay attention to his act when it comes to publicity. He cannot do anything to me directly, besides he knows that I never liked him to begin with, he wouldn't want to attract my ire quite yet, because let's be honest if he does attempt something, I will use the chance to deal with him and no one can tell me jack if I do it in self defense." She snickered, but nodded." Anyways, don't worry, I'm not new to this game, you know." She added as they left the office, noting the elder who entered after them.

"Hugh Ramsay, huh..." She mumbled in neutral manner, before her attention snapped back to Marni." You aren't a monster, you still have your mind and the core of your humanity. As long as you maintain that, you shall never truly be a monster." Vanessa smiled friendly to her new protege and frowned, looking back at the office door, before gesturing for them to leave now." What a glutton you turned out to be. Sadly we do not gain weight now... otherwise I can only imagine how adorable you would be with slightly rounded up cheeks on that adorable face of yours." Vanessa didn't pass this chance to poke some teases at Marni.

"But yeah we can go for a quick snack. Will be a good way to check how your predator insticts work... and your mind that is. Picking up the right prey is part of the enjoyment after all." Vanessa finally agreed with Marni and spread the umbrella again as they reached the outside, waiting for the other to get underneath it so they can stalk walking.

"Alright, quick lessons while we are at it. Remember the guy who entered the office as we left?" She asked and threw a glance at Marni." That's an Ventrue elder vampire. Ventrue are one of the main clans that exist. You can almost think of them as your typical nobility and upper class. That's how they poise themselves... money, political power and influnce are their tools. His domain here is one of the ones most endangered by the Sabbat invasion. He could be an useful temporary ally at a later date. He has a lot to gain from dealing with the Sabbat and if Ditko is Sabbat agent or at least connected with them in some way, that elder likely be all for helping us." She explained, throwing glances about. Given the rain the streets were devoid of life.

"Want to hear something interesting about the ohh so noble and upright Ventrue?" She casually threw a glance at Marni." Way in the past, ventrue were actually the ones who held Sparta during ancient greece time. Curious isn't it? A clan nowdays famous for their calm and collected personas were the ones who reigned the probably most savage city nation in ancient greece. Heh... The bastards... " She added a curse, she disliked ventrue with passion because of their clan's sins towards the Brujah. The ventrue probably were hoping those will fade from memory, but there were quite a few who still remembered... who still taught their childes about the past. This grudge will not be ending soon.

Marni frowned as they began to leave, casting Vanessa sideways look. "If you'd been starved and living off whatever stragglers you could find, you'd be hungry too.." she answered the glutton comment. The next though really surprised her. "Wait, wait... so, we don't age, we don't grow old or sick.. and now you are telling me we don't, or can't change physically at all either?" she asked. "I mean.. I'm just surprised I guess... Thinking about it, I guess I'm glad I'm in some good shape.." she added, self-consciously running a hand down her own side, feeling the fit curves. She could only imagine it must be hell for someone really old or obscenely overweight to be stuck like that for eternity. Marni was young, fit and attractive enough.. Maybe part of the reason she was chosen but.. still, she was glad that she had that at least going for her.

She winced at what Vanessa said about rounded cheeks, throwing a discontented expression at the other woman. "I think I look just fine, as I am.." she replied, just a little testily. It was more to hide her own discomfort than anything else. Being called adorable, at least in the way Vanessa was meaning it, was not really Marni's sort of thing. Adorable was fine for six year olds or girly-girls but Marni wasn't either of those. She liked to think of herself as feminine but not girly in the slightest.

As she exited the building, her mouth opened slightly in a smile at hearing that they could actually finally go out and get something to eat. Or.. someone? God, that sounded weird.. and kind of mean but.. it was what she was now, right? It wasn't like she had made the choice to do this and as long as she was careful now, nobody would really get hurt. And it would protect others from her by not starving her till she couldn't control it anymore. If the two kids from Vanessa's bar were any indication, not to mention her own hazy memory of being fed on, whoever she found tonight would be getting a good time out of it too.

Marni glanced back at the building for a quick second, pulling up the memory of the guy that had been the Baron's next appointment after them and nodded, turning back to Vanessa. "Yeah, chic suit, way too clean cut dude?" she replied. Vanessa's answer added yet another clan to her mental list. Ventrue. Brujah, Toreador, Ventrue... Who came up with these names anyways? Her eyes narrowed at the description, remembering something Vanessa had said earlier. "You said the.. Camarilla was it? Is all royalty and nobility. And these Ventrue are all nobility and upper class? So what he is doing here with what essentially sounds like the middle class?" she asked curiously.

She turned to look back at the building again, wondering for the upteenth time what the hell kind of world had she fallen into. When Vanessa asked another question, she turned back. "What's that?" she asked in answer. She frowned, now wondering how many of them, how many Kindred that she might meet, could have been AROUND at the time of ancient Sparta. That was a trippy thought. They could have actually seen history play out. That.. that was actually pretty cool sounding. To be able to see history in the making, centuries of it. "So the Ventrue are all uptight like that guy? At least now? I guess they must have sure changed a lot..." She didn't have enough experience with any of them to really know how any Kindred acted.

Vanessa's obvious ire though for these Ventrue was something interesting. Probably not something to go into right now, specially since the Brujah had not broached the topic but.. something to find out at some point, when she got to know Vanessa better, maybe. "So the Ventrue weren't always these uptight nobles, what about my clan?" she asked. "You said artists. Were we Toreador always artists?" There was another cab coming which they hailed, but there was enough time for Vanessa to answer before it managed to pull over and stop for them. They got into it and out of the damned rain, yet again.. for now.

The driver turned around to look at them. An older man, but with an easy smile, he looked like a kind older uncle or something. "You two ladies didn't pick the best night to be out, huh? Rainin' cats and dogs like that.... Where can I take you?"

"What's he doing here? It's rather simple really..." Vanessa replied voice filled with disdain." He didn't qualify in the Camarilla... His sire was middleclass at best there, so naturally he wouldn't be able to climb the ranks there. Thus he skipped ship and came here to us, The Anarchs. At least here he can earn his position with actual merit. That's how it is, with us what really matters are your merits and skills. If you prove yourself you can earn respect and with respect comes power. Still never believe even for one moment that an anarch ventrue is working all for us... Pretty sure most of them are still working double way as potential spies and are ready to spill out information as long as it gets them a good deal." She added, her voice filled with anger.

"Well the bastards helped to create and then controlled Rome... The great Roman Empire... I'd say they have never really changed. It's just their facade that shifted. They are still as cruel and merciless as Spartans, it's just that the methods have changed. Have you never wondered how CEOs and powerful companies seem to act so mercilessly in crushing everything in their way through political power? What's really the difference between crushing the enemy back then on the field through war and crushing them now on the global market through influence and money?" Vanessa threw a question at Marni." Besides you should never underestimate a ventrue in a fight... buggers tend to be durable. They possess the gift of Fortitude. They can take a beating."

"Ahhh that story takes me back." She smiled at Marni's question about her ancestry." Yeah, more or less. Clan Toreador has been artists since the dawn of the clan's creation. Your progenitor was named Arikel. A moral painter and scuptor in the First City. Quite the talented woman as the legends go. It's said that after Cain embraced her, she painted a mural. A mural of the skill the likes of which was never seen to and since that day. On that Mural she painted the past...present and future of our kind. The dark hope shattering future. When Cain saw the darkness of his children, he cursed her. That's the curse I mentioned to you earlier, since that very moment, art which is the closest thing for a toreador, the thing keeping them to their humanity, will also be their greatest weakness. It will enthrall them, a distraction and obsession unlike any other." She gave a very brief rundown of one of hte Toreador legends. Vanessa was not like most Brujah. She was versed in Kindred Lore since her sire was of the really old school types.

As they got into the cab, Vanessa stopped talking on the kindred topics and smiled at the driver." Yeah, had no choice though, duty called and work had to be done." She sighed and shook her head." Hmm that's actually a good question." Vanessa snickered and threw a glance at Marni. Then she finally stated and adress. It was a night club that was located on the area where her group of kindred resided. Since she had an Elysium in that area, there weren't as many local Anarchs to be part of her crew. Thus it was fine introducing Marni to the place. After all it was going ot be one of hte places where she was going to be hunting at. She also made a mental note to pull a map later, probably tomorrow and teach the neonate the boundries of her new feeding grounds. It was better to stay inside those, especially with the camarilla and sabbat forces outside Anarch turf. She personally preferred hunting at bars, but nightclubs were a good introduction level hunt.

Sitting in the cab, Marni ran a hand through her short hair, trying to wring at least a little of the water out. Despite Vanessa's umbrella, while waiting for the cab, she had still managed to get pretty wet in the downpour out there. She knew that she should have been shivering, should have been thoroughly chilled. She was soaked, the weather was not the warmest, but she wasn't cold in the slightest. Another 'benefit' to being a vampire, she guessed. As her new mentor began giving directions to the cabbie, Marni thought about what she had just been told.

The information about the organization of this faction was.. interesting enough. Enough that she was glad that she had landed squarely in an equal-opportunity environment that at least had some morals. She was sure she would learn more about the politics of it all later but politics didn't interest her as much right now. The anecdotes of the history of the Ventrue was of a bit less interest to her, if she was being honest. She didn't know enough of any of it.. or any of them for it to make any sort of emotional or humorous impact. She had merely pretended to be amused by it for Vanessa's sake. Her mentor really seemed to have a grudge against that other clan. No, what she was the most interested in was hearing about her own clan.

It was weird to think that suddenly she belonged to this new group... a group she knew nothing about. It wasn't a group she had chosen. It had chosen her. To begin with, she hadn't even been sure she wanted to belong to it.. but as Vanessa told her bits at a time about the Toreador, Marni was revising her opinion. Artist, back to the dawn of... something. But artists. That was something Marni definitely could identify with. She wondered for the thousandth time what had happened to all her paintings, the finished ones she hadn't bothered taking to the gallery and the handful of ones she had been working on. Hopefully they were all safe.. somewhere. With someone who knew the emotional value of each piece.

Arikel, she repeated in her mind. That's what Vanessa had said the founder of the Toreador was called. A sculptor, and more importantly to Marni, a painter too. And moral at that. She wished she could have met this woman. Wait.. vampires... Could this Arikel still be around? It was possible, she realized. The story that Vanessa had told of Arikel though was... enticing. A woman who saw her kind leading to a dark place, a messenger who was cursed for her attempt to convey a warning. Tragic.

But was it really a curse, she wondered. Vanessa had said it was the thing that kept the Toreador closest to their humanity and being entranced, distracted and obsessed by art was hardly a new idea to Marni. When she had been in the midst of work for one of her pieces, she had often become distracted for days in it, in trying to get it right. If it only benefited them as well, in helping to keep a moral centre, then how could that be any kind of curse?

As the cab pulled to a stop along the curb, Marni glanced out through the fogged up, rain-coated window of the vehicle at the bright lights. A night club, one Marni had heard of vaguely, though she had not been much to this area of town. She had heard the name at least. It was a fine enough establishment from what she'd been told, busy and loud but without any rough clientele for the most part. At least, compared to some places. She got her own wallet, attempting to give Vanessa at least a few bucks to help pay for the ride, though her own funds were.. getting low with no way to replenish them for the moment.

They got out, heading up to the doors. No bouncer outside and no line up either. With this weather, it wasn't a surprise. The bouncer, however, was just inside a small lobby area and judging by the sounds coming from the beyond, the weather hadn't dissuaded everyone from coming to have some fun. The bouncer looked over at Vanessa for a moment, then at Marni, before nodding them in. Marni was curious at why they hadn't even had to pay until she saw the sign on the door ahead. Ladies Night. She laughed softly to herself. Well, free admission for them.. never a bad thing. Might make for an interesting field of prey though... Women of all types likely.. ones experienced at clubbing and ones being brought for a free night out by friends. And guys.. Guys expecting a surplus of women would likely be out in droves. That probably meant more player types, more guys looking for a hook-up. Easier prey, she could only assume.

Standing in the doorway now, she looked across the crowds. Yeah, the storm definitely hadn't dissuaded a lot from clubbing tonight. Being far enough from the bouncer now and with the music from inside being loud enough to prevent really being overheard.. and still being able to hear each other, Marni turned to Vanessa. "So... how do we go about this exactly?" she asked. It would be easy enough to figure out seducing some guy into letting her.. bite.. literally, but she needed to know the rules, what her new mentor expected of her and all of that. And if there were any tricks to keep everything more inconspicuous. She didn't have the powers like Tobias had used on her. She wanted to get at least something of a guide to doing this.

Tonight the club was certainly a lot more filled than usual. With so many ladies here for the ladies night, the guys had indeed flocked in droves. Like moths to flame, it was weirdly amusing really. A lot of those guys liked to consider themselves the predator, preying on women, finding flings for a night or two. The truth was though that this was the opposite really. The women here were the real predators, predators that didn't even need to chase the prey! The men basically presented themselves to the women. It was a weird reality microcosmos right here!

"Well..." Vanessa smiled as she threw a look at Marni and then around the place." You find a guy, single one if possible. Someone who isn't with a group would be idea. That way no additional questions arise. You then talking him up, or attract his attention and let him talk you up. You flirt, you pull him away from the crowd, somewhere more secluded like a bathroom would be idea. It's not like a man and a woman going to a bathroom is a rare occurance in places like this. Alternatively you can get him to bring you home and do it all there. That's the even more idea option. No questions, no issues, etc..." Vanessa was explaining with a small devilish smile." At the worst case scenario, you could pull him somewhere where the lighting is darker or flashing a lot. I think they do that here depending on the songs playing. So in theory you could feed here, just pull him away from the crowd and near a wall somewhere. In a situation where their vision is obscured by darkness or flashing light, people will take feeding on someone like making out." She finished her explanation." Just don't drain him too much. The ideal would be the amount you took from either Jym or Veta. Any other questions?" Vanessa asked, finally returning her eyes at Marni. The eyes were those of someone who was about to push his little brother into the deep end of a pool to teach him to swim." I will be around, keeping an eye on you just in case. Might find me someone too, but you don't have to worry about that."

"Ohh yeah if you suspect someone like us is here and keeping an eye on you, come back to me right away, okey?" Vanessa warned in the end with a smile.

Marni's eyes scanned the crowds as she listened to her new mentor, a small part of her finding it utterly ridiculous.. and detestable that she was hunting other humans, even if not planning to kill. That part was only a small objection though compared to the memory of what blood tasted like now. Find a guy... Guy? Specifically? She cast a quick glance over at the Brujah questioningly but Vanessa didn't see it. Just as well that the reasoning behind it came to Marni a second later. It would be easier for a woman to pick up a guy at a place like this.. not that Marni minded. Most of her previous victims had been guys and.. well, she felt more comfortable feeding on guys. The one girl at Vanessa's bar, Veta, had kind of creeped her out a bit. Not so much because of Veta's gender though, more for her forwardness. Feeding without killing though, she had found, was more sensual and Marni was just more comfortable using a guy like that.

Her eyes flicked over in surprise at Vanessa's suggestion of taking the chosen target into the bathroom and she frowned in distaste, not liking how that would make her look to anybody that caught notice. It would be hard to disengage after feeding though in that kind of situation without.. going further. If Veta and Jim had been any indications, while the victim was fairly entranced during the actual feeding, once Marni was done, they came out of it pretty quick. She was sure that whomever she chose would only following her expecting more than just making out. And might become insistent... Something she decidedly wanted to avoid. It might have been seven months but she was still loyal to her boyfriend.

Making up her mind, she shook her head no when Vanessa asked if she had any other questions, not really liking the obvious pleasure the older Kindred seemed to be having at all of this. Marni felt nervous enough. Nervous but anxious... She was just about to head out when Vanessa spoke again, warning her against others of their kind. She hadn't even really thought of that but.. it did seem the ideal place to hunt so it only made sense if others thought so too... "Yeah, I will.." she promised, a new worry added to the rest. Especially when Vanessa moved off and Marni found herself alone.

She began to push her way through the crowd, moving around the outer edges of the dance floor. It would be easier to cast her line out nearer the bar, where some conversation could occur. Some of the men she glanced at were obviously alpha males on the prowl. Not the type she wanted. They were a bit too dangerous for her still, at least until she learned more about herself and what she could do. They weren't dangerous too her really but.. they could lead into a dangerous stand off and she sorely didn't want to kill again.

Glancing around at the bar area, there was very little space.. and no open seats. Too bad. Suddenly fingers tapped lightly on her shoulder and she turned. A pleasant looking guy stood smiling at her, a little awkwardly, as if he was nervous. She smiled back politely. Time to see where this went.. At least he was decent looking, fairly well dressed and ruggedly handsome but not too much so to be a pretty boy.

"Hey, haven't seen you in here before. New here?" he asked.

Marni furrowed her brow a bit, playing on a hunch. "And so are you, right?"

Now he frowned. "Wait, how would you know..."

Marni smiled, giving a small laugh. "You looked a bit nervous." she answered. "Most of the guys here are players, full of the fake charm and arrogance. You seemed... more.. real."

That made the guy smiled and he tipped his head in acknowledgement of the compliment. In fact, he looked relieved. "I'm Brian."

Marni caught herself up short in answering. Vanessa hadn't said anything about giving names but.. for now, Marni wondered if it would be smart to give a fake one. "Maya." she replied.

The small talk continued on for a little as they moved to a far corner of the club where it was dark but just a little bit quieter, better for talking. Marni had to struggled not being too forward in her lust to get what she wanted. Scaring off the guy, Brian, would just make her have to start all over again. Eventually though, one thing led to another and soon they were making out, giving her the opportunity to sink her fangs into his neck. She drank greedily again, revelling in the warmth, life and taste of the blood as it flowed into her mouth. This time though, thankfully, there wasn't the intense drive, the need, to keep feeding. She could take her time and be even more careful about how much she took.

When she had judged she had taken just enough, she pulled back, licking the wounds as she did, making a quick check that they healed to nothing before totally pulling away. She licked her lips, any excess blood not showing in the dim lighting, as she smiled at her prey, hearing his sounds of pleasure and the finish of it from her feeding. She was just preparing to make an excuse to run off when a hand clamped down on her shoulder this time. Her head spun round in shock, turning to the large figure.

The man wasn't all that well dressed and looked pretty scruffy, with a thick beard. He smiled at her with a predator's smile, before turning a dangerous look at Brian. "Get out of here." he said in a gruff voice, full of threat.

Brian glanced at Marni but then took off, leaving her alone with the bedraggled giant. Once glance at this guy told her that he was like her and Vanessa, a Kindred. She was getting better at being able to recognize the ashen paleness, the too perfect, marble-like skin. Her eyes looked past the guy for one moment, trying to see if she could see her mentor's location but it was too dark, too crowded.

The man sniffed at the air, like an animal before speaking, the predatory smile returning. "A new blood... it's been a while since I've run across a new blood around here. Are you being escorted, new blood?"

Marni froze for a second before answering. "I am.. she's around here, watching you right now." she said hesitantly, not knowing if she was lying or not. She hoped not. How had someone who looked like that gotten in here anyways? Kindred though.. probably had ways. "I think.. I think you should leave me be..."

The man grunted, eyeing her. "Can't if you are lying, new blood. You gotta be vouched for in front of the upper management in this part of town. Gotta know who you are..." He sunk his fingers into her shoulder more heavily, claws extending to get a better grip as he tried to pull the new blood to her feet, grinning silently at hearing her cry in pain from the claws.

( This guy is Geraint, an Anarch Gangrel from the area. Vanessa knows him vaguely.., the Baron sometimes uses Geraint for certain work. Vanessa knows he doesnt usually frequent places like this though, so its odd he is here, likely on some of that work. )

Ahh Vanessa was quite pleased with Marni. Seeing the youngling go on her first proper dinner hunt, put a non existant tear on her cheeks. Vanessa herself remembered her first feeding too, granted back then stuff were different... The world was different, but it was nice remembering it non the less. Thus while Marni was busy mingling and enticing her prey, Vanessa decided to let herself also do so for a little while. She danced with a guy for a little while, keepign an eye on Marni's activities of course. Well at least until she saw a rather unexpected sort of familiar face. She smiled at the man she was dancing with and pointed him at another woman who seemed alone. The seemed to take the jest so he left her alone and Vanessa moved quickly towards Marni and the gangel That one she didn't expect to meet here tonight.

"I highly suggest you remove your claws of my new squire...protégé, Geraint." Vanessa stated, grabbing the man's hand in an iron vice of her very own." Unless you want to start something right here and now." She added, not letting go and not about to let go until he removes his hold of Marni." I already introduced her where she had to be. So given you are here of all places, I'm assuming you've got a job to do. I suggest you return to that and leave her alone... You want more info, contact Hans. Now you better let go." She growled. She didn't have claws like him, but her physical prowess was quite impressive actually, she didn't get to where she was with playing nice with everyone. Not too many kindred had mastered potence to her degree and trained their physical strenght to where she was at too. She wasn't afraid from fighting. Marni was under her protection and if she let her get to any real harm after taking her under her wing, she'd be a failure as a knight, ordained by her sire.
